About us
Tuntable Falls Preschool originally opened in 1979, it has been nurturing children and families in the stunning natural environment on community lands surrounded by the Nightcap National Park ever since.
In 2019 we achieved ‘Exceeding’, the highest possible accreditation, in the National Quality Standard from ACEQUA and have maintained it since.
Our highly qualified and experienced Managing Director is also an Early Childhood Teacher. We have a team of highly qualified and talented educators providing a supreme quality of care and education to the children. You can see more about them on the Staff page.
We work closely alongside our adjoining primary school, including a school preparation program in the fourth term for those leaving to ‘big school’ in the coming year. Other initiatives include visits to their school garden, joint Kindy-Preschool activities and lunches supplied by the primary school kitchen (cooked by parents with school grown produce where possible).
The Tuntable Preschool curriculum includes many, varied activities. We are lead by children’s interests where possible and a typical day can include circus, music, arts, crafts, cooking, bush or creek walks, bike riding and others. In addition we have special events such as larger walks around Tuntable Community, Indigenous education, excursions to the Lismore Regional Gallery and visits from interesting artists and services (such as the local Fire Brigade). You can read more about these on the Program page.
We work hard to be a sustainable and environmentally aware centre. We have solar panels and hot water, compost and recycling, rainwater, veggie gardens, composting toilets, nude lunch boxes and delicious vegetarian hot lunches cooked by the school.
The local school bus services the preschool (from Nimbin). Children are collected from the bus in the morning and helped onto the bus in the afternoon, by preschool teachers.
Fees, Enrollment & Hours
The Tuntable Preschool is open Tuesday to Thursdays 8:30am to 4pm.
You can enroll at any time throughout the year simply by ringing the preschool on 02 6689 1179 during school hours or drop us a line via the Contact Page.
We keep fees as low as our funding permits as we believe in keeping early childhood education accessible.
